If the future of the motor vehicle is assured, and if we are to examine towns in a constructive way to see how traffic can be accommodated, then three questions become very important in the assessment of the long term problem: How many vehicles are there likely to be? At what rate will the numbers increase? And how much will the vehicles be used? Once again these are complex questions to which there are no straightforward answers.
